Every year the field trip we most look forward to is our day at Story County Conservation. Not only is it a full day of outdoor play— we always learn something new! Whether it’s types and parts of the bugs, local plants, native animals, it is always interesting and fun.
Story County Conservation maintains ACRES of parks and land around Story County. They offer educational programs which is how we learned about the amazing McFarland Lake park. The mostly paved path curls around a prairie and lake, where it connects to the bigger park area. Around this path, you can find different learning activities, I have seen purely educational activities, geocaches, treasure hunts, and right now it’s reading through a story book. Long story short, Story County Conservation is a must see for more then just the education but for a beautiful outdoor learning experience.
